About Me.
Alex Winnicki, MS, RDN, LDN, CSSD, is a performance dietitian and board-certified specialist in sports dietetics based in Greenville, SC. Drawing on extensive experience in both professional cycling and NCAA athletics, Alex has dedicated his career to helping athletes reach their highest potential. Specializing in endurance sports, Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S), and disordered eating/eating disorders, he emphasizes health optimization as the cornerstone of performance—empowering athletes to strengthen their bodies, minds, and relationships with food.
Originally from Winston-Salem, NC, Alex began his professional life in welding and robot programming at John Deere-Hitachi before transitioning to a career in cycling with the UCI team Cyclus Sports p/b Starlight Apparel. It was through his experience as an athlete that Alex recognized the critical need for evidence-based, compassionate nutrition education. He went on to earn degrees in nutrition and dietetics from Appalachian State and Lamar University, later honing his skills as a Performance Dietitian and Gatorade SNIP Fellow at Northwestern University.
More recently, Alex served as a Sports Dietitian and then Director of Olympic Sports Nutrition at Liberty University, also acting as the school's Assistant Cycling Coach. Today, Alex provides elite, evidence-based sports nutrition services for every athlete—from junior competitors to weekend warriors and seasoned professionals. His private practice work has expanded to a range of organizations, including Converse University, Lynchburg University, Waite Development, Merge Multi-Sport, and more. As a Board-Certified Dietitian, Alex integrates intuitive eating principles with cutting-edge nutritional science to optimize performance, safeguard health, and challenge diet culture.

Second Arrow Nutrition was born from a personal journey to provide safe, effective, and qualified nutrition advice for endurance athletes. After transitioning from professional sports to higher education, Alex faced a challenging shift in his relationship with food and body. The stress and identity crisis that came with leaving pro sports led to an eating disorder. Through recovery, Alex discovered his mission: to help others build a healthier relationship with food and body.
